Fast Track Courses
Red Cap Sailing School offers Fast Track courses where multiple certifications can be completed during the same trip.
You will need to find your own accommodation between the 5 day courses (we can recommend places to stay and things to do on your days off!)
Day Skipper Fast Track
DURATION: 10 days split into 2 five day courses with a weekend break in between.
FORMAT: The first five day course comprises of the Competent Crew Course, and the second five day course comprises the Day Skipper Practical.
EXPERIENCE: No experience is required.
Day Skipper theory must be started and sufficiently progressed so that it can be completed during the middle weekend and the course. However, our recommendation and expectation is to have completed the Day Skipper theory in advance of the Day Skipper Fast Track practical course start date.
Coastal Skipper Fast Track
DURATION: 6 weeks (5 weeks x 5 day sailing courses and 1 week study)
FORMAT:
Week 1: Competent Crew course
Week 2: Day Skipper Practical course
Week 3: Self-study week (Coastal Yachtmaster Theory)
Weeks 4 - 6: Mile building and coastal practical
EXPERIENCE: No experience is required.
Our expectation and recommendation is to complete the Day Skipper theory prior to the start of the course.
Yachtmaster Fast Track
DURATION: 15 weeks* (14 weeks x 5 day sailing courses and 1 week self-study)
FORMAT: Week 1: Competent Crew course
Week 2: Day Skipper Practical course
Week 3: Self-study week (Coastal Yachtmaster Theory)
Week 4 – 14: Mile building and coastal practical (2,500nm)
Week 15: Yachtmaster Prep Exam week (3 days skills and drills)
2 days Yachtmaster Exam with independent examiner.
EXPERIENCE: No experience is required.
Our expectation and recommendation is to complete the Day Skipper theory prior to the start of the course.
*where a Student has already completed some of the courses that comprise the earlier part of the Yachtmaster Fast Track course i.e. Competent Crew/Day Skipper/Coastal Skipper, it is possible to reduce the number of weeks required for the Yachtmaster Fast Track. Any reduction to the overall number of weeks for the Yachtmaster Fast Track will be following discussion with the Principal, where you will also be required to evidence your successful completion of the earlier courses, and any such reduction in weeks is at the School’s sole discretion.
